These Christmas films on HBO Max might not all be the best in the genre but each of them is an absolute blast to watch on the streaming service.

Oh. What. Fun. has an overpowered cast that’s punching well below their weight classes. But everyone needs to get paid, and everyone deserves to have some lighthearted fun around the holidays, even Denis Leary. It can’t be The Ref every year, folks.

Another holiday dog movie you absolutely need to watch is the live-action adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Starring Jim Carrey, this festive favorite follows the famously cranky Grinch as he hatches a plan to steal Christmas from the cheerful Whos in Whoville—joined, of course, by his loyal dog Max.

The holiday season means holiday movies: films that can be counted upon to bring warmth and holiday cheer — and also probably some snow, a little bit of magic, and grumpy, greedy, workaholic protagonists who need to be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas.
